All of our trainers and owners are certified personal trainers through the NSCA, NASM, and FMS, which means they’ve been trained in anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. Additional certifications of our owners and trainers include First Aid and CPR certified. They understand that no two bodies are alike and will work with you to get fit at the right pace.

Co-Owner and CEO of Xcel Performance, Storm Woerner, has been surrounded by the fitness industry his entire life. Storm is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), a certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS), a certified physical preparation specialist (CPPS), a certified injury resiliency specialist, a nutritional consultant, and has a bachelor degree from Shippensburg University in Exercise Science and Biology. Storm has a wide variety of athletic background ranging from being a nationally qualified swimmer to playing college football and attending an NFL combine. Throughout his college career, where he majored in exercise science and biology, he worked in a physical therapy clinic and assisted Shippensburg University as a strength coach for the women’s field hockey and volleyball teams (Women’s Field Hockey went on to win a national championship). Upon graduating Storm decided to learn from top professionals in his industry. He learned from Rob Conatser, owner of Sierra Strength and Speed. Rob was a strength coach and athletic trainer for the San Francisco 49ers during the 1980’s when they went on to win numerous Super Bowl titles. Storm then decided to move cross country to pursue his dreams even more in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Storm worked in two different gyms, assisted the Jacksonville University football program in the weight room, and started his own personal training company, Storm Woerner Fitness, Inc. When the opportunity came to open his own gym with his business partner, Alexander J. Hunt, they decided to stay in Jacksonville Beach and open Xcel Performance, Inc.

Co-Owner and President of Xcel Performance, Alex was born and raised here in Jacksonville, FL, where he attended Episcopal High School and University Christian School, excelling in 3 sports which lead to him receiving a scholarship to play collegiate baseball at Daytona State College, where he began his studies in Exercise Science. While playing sports throughout high school and college, his off-season training was performed by his father, Coach Charles Hunt, Sr. who is a household name in the Jacksonville community, especially when it comes to athletics and exercise professionals. Ultimately, Alex’s foundation and passion for training was instilled in him through his father, who has been his mentor since Alex made the decision to become a personal trainer.

Alex has been a certified personal trainer since 2006 and has worked at some of the top personal training studios here in Jacksonville. He believes in being educated and experienced in all facets of exercise in order to provide the best service in creating the appropriate program for each individual looking to achieve their goals, including and not limited to: weight loss, strength training, HIIT, pre and post-natal, sports specific, post physical therapy rehabilitation, mobilization/flexibility, cross training, special needs, and Olympic lifting. He believes that each genre of training should have two things in common, functional training and proper nutrition planning for that style of training.

“Functional training should be the foundation of every exercise program, regardless of goal. Being able to perform daily tasks safely, pain free, and efficiently simulated through exercise is the definition of functional training.”

“The ultimate satisfaction from what I do is the ability to not just help others, but to educate others. I have countless conversations with other fitness experts, professionals and enthusiasts from all walks of life discussing theories from our peers, from ourselves, and the success and failures we have all had. The failures are inevitable, but they are the best learning tool for self-growth and your depiction of success.”

Fitness may be his passion and what he eats, sleeps and breathes, but there is a balance in his life for other things, one that takes precedence over fitness, and that’s his family. Other hobbies include flag football, in which he competes at the highest level with and against the top teams in the country; participating in local and national charity events to raise awareness and finances to causes in need; and last but not least watching Naked and Afraid, pretending that he would in fact be able to thrive if put in any survival situation.
